Whilst Dorset was in the grip of Snowmageddon, a group of intrepid Uniformed Public Services students and three staff travelled 18 hours by coach to the Aosta Valley in Italy for a week of snow sports tuition where temperatures plummeted to -26°C!
Whilst experiencing Italian culture, students were able to develop their skills in skiing or snowboarding by participating in a total of 24 hours of tuition over 6 days. All made great progress, with some complete novices even negotiating red runs and visiting the snow park to hit jumps and rails by the end of the week.
As well as developing their skills on snow, students were able to develop their teamwork, communication, self-discipline and resilience throughout the trip, better preparing them for careers in the uniformed public services.
Lecturer and trip co-ordinator Fran Bove said “We had a fantastic week with Interski where all of the students conducted themselves in an excellent fashion all week. Lecturers Mark Ballard and Scott Pestell were invaluable with their assistance throughout. I would also like to thank the Bournemouth & Poole College Students' Union for providing financial support to those who would have otherwise been unable to attend.”
