Established in 2014, the prize aims to reward and celebrate excellence in the art and Design from across the county of Dorset. It offers emerging artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience.

This year we are partnering with Stuart Semple and The Giant Gallery to bring the prize to the centre of Bournemouth.

The creative economy the UK’s fastest growing sector, bigger than the automotive, aerospace, life sciences and oil and gas sectors combined, it is vital we nurture a pipeline of Dorset talent to flow into the creative sector.

At the heart of The Dorset Art Prize is equality of opportunity. The prize is open to anyone regardless of wealth, location, gender or ethnicity.

Bournemouth and Poole College is delighted to be partnering with Stuart Semple and The Giant Gallery for the Dorset Art Prize this year.  This brings education and the creative economy closer together for the benefit of our local talent pipeline and aligns with our mission to transform futures.

We are also pleased to share that The Arts University Bournemouth are supporting the Dorset Art Prize this year. Their support will help the prize to reach more young artists across all areas of Dorset.

The Dorset Art Prize has 3 distinct aims:

  1. To relentlessly and passionately champion creativity in all forms.
  2. Recognise, celebrate and reward Dorset grown creative talent.
  3. Nurture our local talent pipeline and empower careers in the Creative Industries.
