This qualification is a two year part time course, suitable for those in a full teaching role. Students will be eligible to apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status on completion.

This qualification will be offered at Level 4 in year 1 and Level 5 in year 2 and replaces the City and Guilds DTLLS qualifation.

What do I need to apply

To do this course you should have... 

It is expected that anyone entering this course will normally possess a minimum level 3 qualification in his/her own area of specialism and a Level 2 in English and maths.

There is also a requirement for a minimum of 50 hours of teaching practice on the first year of this course and 50 hours in the second year.

  • Learners will have an initial assessment of literacy, numeracy and ICT
  • There will be 120 guided learning hours and 420 self directed study hours
  • The learner will receive tutorial support throughout the course
