This is an exciting 1 year full time course for students aged 16-18 designed to give you the opportunity to progress onto our Level 2 courses.

Based at our purpose built facility, The Fulcrum Centre, which is a five minute walk from Tower Park leisure complex, this course provides the basic woodworking skills that any aspiring tradesmen requires and gives the candidate the opportunity to progress at their own pace.  This course also includes personal development, employability, work experience and, depending on GCSE grades on entry, may include GCSE or Functional Skills in Maths and English. These are delivered at our North Road site. This course is a 1 year full time course which you will need to attend approx. 3/4 days a week for 35 weeks.

What courses can I do after this? 

Students should be able to progress onto a Level 2 full time course or an apprenticeship and our experienced staff will work closely with you to help you succeed

What jobs can I get? 

On completion you should have the confidence to gain employment as a labourer within the industry whilst continuing your studies to become fully qualified

What do I need to apply

To do this course you should have... 

Minimum English and Maths GCSE grade 1 or Foundation Entry Level 3 qualification and have achieved a Level 1 in Functional Skills English and Maths.  Depending on grades on entry the study programme will include GCSE or Functional Skills in Maths and English.

There will also be an oportunity for students to achieve extra units for a higher level pass if desired
