A quick conversation with Rimshah, BPCSU President

We managed to borrow Rimshah, the SU President at Bournemouth & Poole College, for a few quick questions inbetween her busy schedule of studying and working with the Student Union.

What made you decide to run for SU President?
I was previously VP Student Voice and enjoyed being actively involved with The College and BPCSU. This role is an opportunity for me to broaden my experience through working with different people for a range of causes.

What does your role involve?
I am fortunate in that that my role is quite varied and I am able to make suggestions on what I and my committee wish to focus on.
During the first term, I’ve attended the launch of the Career Hub and have been involved in our campus photoshoot. I will be attending Student Executive meetings and meetings with The College Principal as well as participating in a range of events throughout the year.

Why would you recommend getting involved with BPCSU?
It’s a great opportunity for many reasons. You can lead change and help influence the SU to focus on causes you care about.
You are offered the opportunity to collaborate with people outside your department, those who you may not normally have the chance to meet.
The roles and responsibilities themselves can help boost confidence, improve time management skills and networking skills. Above all, the experience is enjoyable and you can leave with new friends and positive memories of your contribution to The College!
