Two Brand New Digital Apprenticeships Launch at The College

The Bournemouth & Poole College is located in the heart of a continually growing digital economy. In response to continued calls from the industry, The College are pleased to announce the launch of two new Level 3 apprenticeship offerings.

Skilled workers in the digital industries are among the most sought-after professionals in the world. Due to the strong demand and the limited supply of qualified people in the area, a career in the sector will usually have strong future prospects and offer continuous development opportunities.

The Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship offers exciting opportunity for both employers and apprentices. Apprentices will work internally in businesses, supporting work in software or hardware. Businesses will benefit from The College’s expertise in training to develop their employee’s understanding of digital support, including security, legislation and service knowledge.

The Data Technician Apprenticeship will suit both people looking to enter the lucrative data industry, or those already working with data and looking to develop their skills and knowledge further. Apprentices will support the business they work for in sorting, refining, organising and combining data. They may use industry-standard software such as Excel, Access and Power BI, and will spend time learning through work and through dedicated study days at The College. Data Technician roles can be found in many sectors beyond the digital industries, including in finance, retail, education and manufacturing.

Antony Carr, Director of Apprenticeships, is passionate about continuing to develop The College’s apprenticeship offering, especially in the digital area. He said, “Data is used in virtually every industry to drive most decisions, from managing a pandemic to deciding on which new markets to enter. Reliable, trustworthy well-presented data and information empowers decision makers. This is an industry at the start of a boom – now is the time to join this exhilarating sector.”

Led by a team of expert tutors, The College’s Digital, Computing and IT department offer a wide range of full and part time courses, apprenticeships and degree level courses.
