Head of Digital Awarded Associate Status by The Chartered Institution for Further Education
Jason Eastwood, Head of Digital Education & Learning Environments, has been awarded the prestigious title of Associate by The Chartered Institution for Further Education (ACFE), recognising his outstanding contribution to the sector. The accolade reflects Jason’s leadership in digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) within further education, alongside his work as an Associate Expert with the Association of Colleges (AoC) and the KWP College Collective.
The ACFE Associate status acknowledges Jason’s significant expertise and influence in AI-driven innovation across education. In particular, it highlights his role in supporting colleges throughout the UK as they adopt and embed AI technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency. This recognition underlines his commitment to advancing a forward-looking, digitally confident further education sector.
In his current role, Jason has led the strategic integration of AI and digital learning tools, creating solutions that enrich learner experiences and streamline processes. Among his key achievements is the development of an AI-powered ChatBot for his college’s website, which provides real-time support to students and staff while improving engagement and reducing administrative pressures.
Jason has also played a central role in introducing MagicSchool AI resources to support teaching, learning, and assessment. These tools enable educators to harness AI to improve lesson planning, personalise learning, and enhance classroom engagement. Through this work, Jason has positioned his college as a leader in innovative, AI-enabled educational practice.
Staff development has been another major focus of his work. In 2024, Jason delivered in-depth AI training during a College Staff Development Day, equipping both teaching and support staff with the skills and confidence needed to use AI responsibly and effectively in their daily roles.
Beyond his own institution, Jason’s impact extends nationally through his involvement with the KWP College Collective, a sector-led consultancy network developed by KWP Ltd in partnership with the AoC. As a College Collective Expert in AI, Jason has advised colleges on AI strategy, policy development, and best practices, helping them navigate ethical, practical, and regulatory considerations.
A notable achievement within this work has been the development of his college’s first AI Policy, providing clear guidance on the ethical and responsible use of AI. He also leads half-termly Action Learning Sets, fostering collaboration and shared learning among colleges tackling similar AI challenges.
Jason’s achievements were formally recognised at a conferment ceremony held on 11th December 2025 at Apothecaries’ Hall in London. As an Associate of ACFE, he joins a community of professionals shaping the future of education through innovation.
This recognition reflects Jason’s dedication to advancing both his institution and the wider sector. His continued leadership in AI and digital education is set to have a lasting impact on further education across the UK.
