Bournemouth and Poole College has joined forces with Poole Museum to bring the 12th Dorset Art Prize to Dorset’s talented artists.  Founded in partnership with the Dorset Community Foundation Trust, the competition invites both amateur and professional artists to share their creative talents and celebrate the diverse art scene in Dorset.

The 2026 Dorset Art Prize is now officially open for entries, to anyone aged 16 and over who lives in Dorset. This year’s theme is ‘Metamorphosis’, and artists can use any medium they like, from photography and digital art to fine art, animation, film, and sculpture.

Entry is free, with prizes of up to £1,000 available. The competition is divided into two age categories: 16-18 and 18+, giving all a chance to get involved!

Stuart Palmer, Director of Creative, Digital, Tech, and Service Industries at Bournemouth & Poole College, shared: “We’re so excited to partner with Poole Museum, which is a true treasure in our community. The museum’s dedication to fostering creativity and celebrating both heritage and innovation perfectly aligns with our mission to connect education, community, and culture. Together, we hope to inspire the next wave of creators and storytellers while strengthening Dorset’s cultural identity. The Dorset Art Prize is a fantastic opportunity for local artists to showcase their incredible work!”

Jaine Fitzpatrick, Interim Director at Poole Museum, added: “We’re thrilled to host the Dorset Art Prize at Poole Museum! Whether it's internationally renowned artists or emerging local talent, we love celebrating creativity in all its forms. This exhibition highlights the amazing artistic talent thriving in our local community, and we’re proud to be the space where it can be displayed for all to enjoy.”
