Annual Leadership Conference – how to turn personal stories into successes for college leadership

On Wednesday, 6th March, Bournemouth and Poole College held its Annual Leadership Conference at The Vitality Stadium at AFC Bournemouth - a time for our college leaders to take a pause from the everyday to focus and reflect on how they lead – with the impacts they make and how they can grow as leaders in a learning environment.

The theme was ‘Learning to Trust’, and the Senior Leadership Team focussed on how trust underpins our Leadership Charter values and enables us to go even further than we thought we could. Andy Edwards, conference speaker, author, and creator of ‘Relationomics’ coached eight of our colleagues to break through their barriers and was cheered on by the whole team, with an achievement of what seemed at first to be an almost impossible challenge.

Richard Allen-Campbell from Loud Speaker – an organisation that ‘Gives young people the tools to aim high and lead their best lives’ gave an expert, powerful and challenging session on how we could use our own stories to develop positive leadership impact and growth.

The leadership team can be proud to be described as: “Brave, collaborative, taking ownership and consistently great” by Assistant Principal - People and Student Experience Director, Debbie Smith.
