Christmas came early for Business and Professional Students at The Bournemouth & Poole College in the shape of Bournemouth recruitment agency Rock.

The company donated £4,000 to help the college's Business School to purchase new laptops and furnishings to liven up the teaching area and give it a modern professional office feel.

There was a great atmosphere in the main hall of the Lansdowne site as dozens of students tucked in to a Christmas lunch while certificates for achievement were handed out.

Higher Education students in Business and Marketing were given the opportunity to meet some inspirational figures in the industry. John Johnston, International Operational Director and Natasha Zarach, Global Marketing Manager, from Elga Water Management, took time out of their busy schedules to give presentations to the students and give them a real understanding of a direction that their future careers could take. Elga, a subsidiary of Global water purifier Veolia is based in China, the USA and the UK.

Former Bournemouth and Poole College Foundation Degree student David Hampton has achieved a double triumph following college while studying at Bournemouth University.

He has been awarded a wealth of academic awards to put alongside his first class honours degree in Marketing Communications from BU.

David recently became the second college foundation graduate to win the University’s Rosemary Pope Award for the Best Final Year Student from the university’s partner colleges. The Pope award goes alongside his prize for Best Final Year University Media School student.

Ex-carpenter and former Bournemouth & Poole College student Tom Stone is celebrating a £3,000 bursary from the Royal Television Society.

After leaving Bournemouth Grammar school Tom opted for a career in carpentry, but after seven years working in the industry he changed his focus to TV camera skills.

He then enrolled on an Access to Media Studies course at The Bournemouth & Poole College, where he gained a distinction. He’s now studying for a BA (Hons) undergraduate course in TV production at Bournemouth University.

The Bournemouth & Poole College will help to train Travel and Tourism students in coping with the huge influx of tourists expected at the Olympic Games in 2016. 

The team of 10 students, all from universities in Brazil, arrived at the college's Lansdowne site, Bournemouth, to learn the secrets of high-class customer care from staff at the college. They begin 13 weeks intensive training in all aspects of customer care including topics such as gastronomy, travel and tourism.
