The College’s Careers & Employability Provision Recognised for Meeting Gatsby Benchmarks

The Gatsby Benchmarks is a framework for improvement in careers provision. The benchmarks have been recognised by the Government’s Careers Strategy and form part of their statutory guidance for colleges. The Bournemouth & Poole College is proud to be meeting 100% achievement in all eight Gatsby Benchmarks.

We are very proud of our Careers & Employability Team who have worked tirelessly over the past academic year to work towards the benchmarks. The achievement, recognised by both the Careers & Enterprise Company and Local Authority, means that The College excels in the following eight benchmarks:

1. A stable careers programme
2. Learning from career and labour market information
3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
5. Encounters with employers and employees
6. Experiences of workplaces
7. Encounters with further and higher education
8. Personal guidance

At The Bournemouth & Poole College, all students are actively encouraged to seek careers information, advice and guidance, and there are facilities at both the Poole and Bournemouth sites with dedicated staff available to support students in this area.

Pippa Allner, Personal Development Manager at The College, said, “We are incredibly proud of our Careers & Employability provision for this achievement however we have a whole college approach to ensuring our students are career ready, so I would like to thank everyone for their limitless support given to our students, especially this year under such challenging circumstances”.
