Bournemouth and Poole College has been shortlisted for two Apprentice Guide Awards in its first year entering the competition.

The college has been nominated for Best Apprenticeship in Manufacturing and Best Apprenticeship in Engineering for Degree apprenticeships delivered in partnership with Bournemouth University.

These nominations shine a spotlight on the exceptional quality of our two Degree Apprenticeships; the Production Design and Development Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with pathways in Mechanical Design and Marine Technologies, and the Manufacturing Engineer Degree Apprenticeship, with pathways in Manufacturing Management and Electronic Design.

Supporting the application, employer, Primetals Technologies’ Manager Daniel Hague, said: “Over the past five years, the BPC apprenticeship programme has been central to our apprentice development programme in Primetals, and therefore how we build capability and grow our business sustainably. The blend of structured academic learning with workplace mentoring has developed our business across functions. The quality of project execution, engineering, sales and customer support work has increased, while the apprenticeship programme supports creating a pipeline of future technical leaders”

Company Eaton Mission Systems Division, of Wimborne’s, Debbie Carver also offered: “Our Degree Apprentices play an imperative role in strengthening both our current capability and our future talent pipeline. The apprenticeship programme through Bournemouth and Poole College has enabled us to bring enthusiastic, high-potential individuals into the business who quickly develop into confident, value-added employees across our Engineering and Operations Manufacturing teams.”
