Today marks an exciting milestone for our 48 first-year T Level Health students, as they begin their three-week block placement in a range of local health and care settings. This placement provides the first opportunity for our students to apply the knowledge and skills they have developed in college to real-world healthcare environments.

Students are gaining valuable experience across a variety of services, including hospital departments, community healthcare teams and residential care homes. We are incredibly grateful to all of our employer partners who have supported these placements.

Placements are taking place with:

  • NHS University Hospitals Dorset - in theatres, maternity and cardiology
  • NHS Dorset Healthcare - Community Nurses
  • NHS Dorset Healthcare - Alderney Hospital
  • Eagles Mount Care Home
  • Figbury Lodge Care Home
  • The Potteries
  • Farway Grange
  • April Court
  • Drumconnor Nursing Home
  • Ferndown Manor Care Home

Students have been prepared by college staff through classroom learning and practical training in our simulation suites. They have also benefitted from specialist support from Immerse Medical Training, undertaken Moving and Handling Training provided by NHS University Hospitals Dorset and been interviewed by our employer panel including Partners in Care and NHS Dorset Healthcare.

We are incredibly proud of our students as they take these first important steps towards careers in health and social care, and we thank all of our employer partners for their continued support in helping to develop the next generation of the healthcare workforce.
