Apprentice Reaches National Finals in HIP Female Skills Plumbing Competition
Final-year plumbing apprentice Faith has earned a place in the national finals of the HIP Female Skills Plumbing Competition (2026) after delivering an impressive performance in the regional heat. Studying for her Level 3 BPEC (British Plumbing Employers Council) Plumbing and Heating qualification, Faith achieved the runner-up position in the regional round, held in Bath College on 24th February.
The competition, organised to promote high professional standards across the plumbing industry, tests apprentices’ technical ability and problem-solving skills under time pressure. Competitors are required to complete a detailed practical installation based on drawings that are provided on the day.
Faith impressed judges with her precision and technical skill, successfully installing pipework for a boiler, radiator and shower system. The task required advanced pipe-bending, jointing and accurate measurement, all of which she delivered to a high standard.
Her performance earned her second place in the regional competition and a coveted place in the national finals, marking a significant milestone in her training.
Faith’s achievement is particularly notable given the challenges she has faced during her apprenticeship. Her determination and progress highlight the impact of hands-on training in developing practical skills and confidence within the trade.
Reaching the national stage is expected to strengthen Faith’s career prospects, adding a standout accomplishment to her CV and opening up new employment opportunities within the plumbing and heating sector.
Industry leaders continue to champion apprenticeships as a powerful pathway into skilled trades. Faith’s success demonstrates how vocational training equips individuals with real-world experience, industry knowledge and the skills needed to develop into industry-ready professionals.
