Bournemouth and Poole College will open a new higher education facility this September at its North Road campus, following a £1.2-million government investment.

The new Degree Centre will offer a state-of-the-art learning environment for students to study degree level qualifications and will provide flexible learning spaces for small group teaching, digital suites with access to high specification IT equipment, virtual reality suites and industry-standard nursing training facilities.  There will also be social and study spaces to allow students to meet and collaborate.

Bournemouth & Poole College held its graduation ceremony in March, celebrating the achievements of graduates who completed their apprenticeships in 2022/23.

The ceremony, which took place at AFC Bournemouth, was attended by apprentices, their families and businesses who came together to celebrate their achievements.

Speaking at the event, Jacqueline Page, Vice Principal at Bournemouth & Poole College, took a moment to praise the graduates for their commitment to their studies and for the valuable contribution they will make to the local workforce.

Bournemouth & Poole College’s Catering and Hospitality Department has been recognised as ‘Outstanding’ for the third year in a row at 2023’s AAC Apprenticeship Awards. 

The award for ‘Catering and Hospitality Apprenticeship Provider of the Year’ recognises the College as a leader in its field for developing apprentices into successful and influential workers in the hospitality industry.

Bournemouth & Poole College has extended its engineering course provision and is now offering students the opportunity to study for a Level 2 qualification in Mechatronics Engineering.

The one-year Mechatronics Engineering course is blend of electrical and mechanical units, giving learners the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of, and develop extensive skills, in the engineering sector.

On completion, students can progression to a more specialised Level 3 vocational or academic engineering course or an apprenticeship.
