Two College Barbering students recently volunteered to help the homeless charity Second Chance deliver a special event in the Street Barbers & Tattoo Shop in Boscombe. The students, Mark Timms and Shannon McKenzie, helped in providing around 30 free haircuts to vulnerable people from across the area.
Bournemouth & Poole College has held a Women in STEM event for careers advisers, teachers and educational professionals. Following on from the success of last year’s event, the College again sought to find ways to inspire and develop the aspirations of young women, and to make them consider careers in STEM.
The engineering team at Bournemouth & Poole College are celebrating after achieving two industry accreditations. Following a visit from a panel of industry experts from the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED), which involved speaking to lecturers and current students, the College received the IED’s accreditation, which can be awarded to colleges and universities which run higher education courses to train professional engineers.
Bournemouth & Poole College has confirmed its commitment to staff and students by signing up to a brand new national mental health and wellbeing charter - created by the Association of Colleges (AoC) in conjunction with mental health experts.
