Selina Freeman has been teaching since 2008 in London. She first worked as a Travel and Tourism lecturer, under her leadership the department achieved outstanding results within two years. She then became Head of School for Leisure, Health and Uniformed Public Services (UPS), at City of Westminster College. Her biggest achievement in this role was achieving the highest success ratees nationally for Travel and Tourism and Sport courses. 

Selina said: “I have also worked at Yeovil College as Head of North Dorset campus and the Curriculum Manager for Health, Care and Early Years, I took a career break to raise my daughter and then worked at the Dorset County Hospital as an Education Manager in the training department, for inductions and for doctor training.”

Selina has been working at Bournemouth and Poole College as a Travel and Tourism Lecturer for 3 months before stepping up into the Learning Manager role. She states: “The staff at Bournemouth and Poole College have been so welcoming and amazing so far – I’ve loved coming back into education from healthcare – my heart and passion are in teaching. I love watching students flourish and grow; it’s very rewarding. Ultimately, I want to bring learning to life, giving students the best journey and experience.” 

In the future, Selina hopes to streamline the course pathways, reduce staff workload and embed key performance indicators into work.  She wants to strengthen the stakeholder engagement in the sector, and have more input from the industry experts to help inform the curriculum is relevant and up to date.
