14 October 2016: Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership officially opened Bournemouth & Poole College’s newly refurbished Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing facilities which received a major upgrade thanks to a £565,150 investment secured by Dorset LEP through the Dorset Growth Deal*1.

The works, which significantly enhance the quality of the facilities and learning environment as well as reduce the building’s carbon footprint and increase its energy efficiency, included:

Superior, a leading manufacturer of high integrity O-rings and seals, has been shortlisted as a regional finalist for ‘Employer of the Year’ at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2016.

In its 13th year, the awards received just under a 1,000 entries from businesses and individuals across England.

The Bournemouth & Poole College is the largest apprenticeship provider in Dorset and manages the Superior apprenticeship scheme in conjunction with the manufacturer through their Academy programme.

The plush Royal Bath Hotel was the venue for the recent Bournemouth & Poole College Exceptional Student Awards. The event is now in its 4th year and was created in order to celebrate the achievements of students at The College. It’s an important event as it inspires all students to achieve the best they can.

The event began with a lively performance by Performing Arts students followed by Rupert Barrington acting as compere and a speech by college Principal Diane Grannell. It was then time for Vice Principal’s Jackie Page and Michael Johnson to present the awards.

There were smiles all round as students picked up their AS and A Level results at The Bournemouth & Poole College. The college’s Sixth Form were delighted with the success rates of 96.5%. It reflected the hard work of the students, who now have their next step for the future in place. An 86% pass rate for the AS students was particularly impressive against the uncertainty of the impact on results of the government’s A Level reforms.
