Staff at The Bournemouth and Poole College are celebrating after the Careers Advice and Guidance Team were re-accredited with the Matrix Standard, which is a nationally-recognised scheme.

The College was visited for inspection by the Matrix Standard’s assessors, who spoke to the team about how they support students to pursue their work, learning and life goals, as well as school students to develop their career aspirations, and employers to develop beneficial partnerships.

Seven Apprentices from Southern England Colleges including Bournemouth, Poole, Bristol, Folkstone and Plymouth were competing against each other in the Painting and Decorating Association’s Premiere Trophy Awards Apprentice / Trainee competition at Bournemouth & Poole College on 26th May 2017. 

This competition, organised by the Association, is sponsored by CITB and Purdy and Johnstone’s Paints.

Public services students at The Bournemouth & Poole College have won the Challenge Cup at the national Pier Cellars Challenge, which was held at the Royal Navy base in Torpoint.

The Engineering department at The Bournemouth & Poole College was the location for a recent Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing Teacher Training (CPD) day.

Organised in partnership with Borough of Poole, Christchurch and East Dorset District Councils, the event, which was aimed at secondary school teachers and career advisors from schools across Poole, East Dorset and Christchurch, aimed to improve understanding about careers and developments in the advanced engineering and manufacturing sector.

Bournemouth & Poole College Students' Union team, along with some brave students, will be swapping their backpacks for parachutes as they skydive for charity of the year, Shelter on 26th May.

The team have already this year raised over £700 for the charity through events, art competitions, charity football tournaments, raffles and more, but are hoping to break all their records and raise over £2000 by doing the skydive.
