19 year old Cameron Whittingham is studying a BTEC in Business. Recently he joined the Patchwork Foundation. The voluntary organisation that helps engage under-represented, deprived and minority communities in Britain through exposure and engagement in politics.

“I have always had an interest in politics,” said Cameron. “I feel very privileged and lucky.”

Bournemouth & Poole College was host to the South West regional final of the Johnstone’s Trade 2018 Young Painter of the Year competition.

Now in its 14th year, the national competition has been searching for the UK’s best eight young talented painters and decorators. The competition is open to students aged between 17-27 studying an NVQ Level 1 and Level 2 in painting and decorating or construction.

Bournemouth & Poole College has been awarded third place in the national Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCA) for the Further Education College category

The WUSCAs take place every year to get an overview of student satisfaction in higher education across the UK. For the first time this year, three new categories were added to the awards line-up including the Further Education College award.

Four Bournemouth & Poole College Hospitality and Catering students are celebrating after making their way into the final of the Institute of Hospitality’s Southern Branch Student of the Year Awards 2018, with one even taking the prize for Front of House Student of the Year.

The ceremony, which took place at the Balmer Lawn Hotel in Brockenhurst, saw the awards presented by Jane Devonshire (MasterChef winner 2016).

An often unheard of hidden gem at the college’s Lansdowne site, Escoffier fine dining restaurant has, for the eighth year, been Highly Commended in its annual rosette inspection by the AA (Automobile Association).

In the report produced at the time of the unannounced visit, the inspector highlighted that the service team had ‘impeccable presentation’, the restaurant gave ‘a true dining experience’ and the ‘skilled cooking and quality of food represents superb value for money.’
