A very Merry Christmas and holiday period from the Student Support team at Bournemouth & Poole College. A huge congratulations for all your hard work in what has been an exceptionally difficult year for everyone.

We are aware that the December holiday period is different for everyone, and for many this can be a really difficult time. Bournemouth & Poole College has purchased laptops and WiFi routers to allow students experiencing digital barriers to complete their studies.

A significant proportion of the UK population face digital barriers because they lack digital equipment or digital skills and/or internet access. Without having a laptop or access to the internet at home, completing coursework or doing necessary research is much harder.

Bournemouth & Poole College are collecting items and raising funds for local foodbanks this festive period.

We have joined forces with 15 other colleges across the country, as part of the FE Festive Foodbank campaign, to support foodbanks. As a group, there is a target of raising £12,000 and collecting 30,000 items.

Last month, Bournemouth & Poole College’s Students’ Union (BPCSU) hosted an online event for its Social Responsibility Day.

The purpose of the event was to advertise and promote greenness in and around the College. Hosted virtually, students were able to log onto an online event to hear about volunteering opportunities and eco-friendly companies.
