Bournemouth & Poole College support home educated students with their next steps

Bournemouth & Poole College have announced its plans to support home educated students who were unable to receive exam grades this year.

With exams being cancelled due to COVID-19, many home educated students found themselves in a difficult situation as they were unable to receive centre assessed grades. Bournemouth & Poole College have introduced new plans to support these students and ensure that they can continue to progress.

The College will be offering home educated students the opportunity to undertake an English and Maths screen with the College. Once they have completed this, the students will be able to join the best course for them. Whilst studying at the College, students will be able to undertake their GCSE English and Maths or Functional Skills qualifications.

Diane Grannell, Principal of Bournemouth & Poole College, said: “We understand that some home educated students will be worrying about what’s next, having been unable to receive their GCSE results this year due to the pandemic. We want to reassure these students that Bournemouth & Poole College is here to support them in their next steps. After undertaking an evaluation with the College, we will be able to match students with the best course for them and organise for them to complete an English and Maths qualification with us.”
