Bournemouth & Poole College seek photos of BPCSU throughout the decades

Bournemouth & Poole College is calling on members of the public to share their photos of the Students’ Union from the past 50 years to mark the anniversary.

The College launched its 50th anniversary celebration campaign in September with a ‘50 years’ themed Freshers’ Fair complete with a ‘bucking bronco’ and DJ set for more than 2,000 students. In February 2020, it will be hosting a 50th anniversary celebration for past and present students and staff to highlight the vital role of the Students’ Union and how it provides them with a voice and supports student life.

Members of the public are therefore encouraged to send in any pictures they have of the Bournemouth & Poole College Students’ Union (BPCSU) from the past five decades so that they can be displayed at the event taking place next year. Photos should be sent to studentsunion@bpc.ac.uk with the date included if known.

Brian Stewart, student engagement co-ordinator at Bournemouth & Poole College, said: “We are really proud of what BPCSU has achieved over the past 50 years and are already planning for the next 50. We pride ourselves on offering students a well-rounded experience, that not only prioritises education, but we also invest in student life at the College.

“To demonstrate our ongoing commitment to our students, we listened to what they needed and have invested in a new games room, computers and social areas in our Students’ Union, which boosts sociability and productivity during term time.”

Bournemouth & Poole College is home to around 12,000 students from across the region, the rest of the UK and around the world. It is the largest provider of further education and apprenticeships in the area.

The College offers a vast array of full-time and part-time courses, and has built working relationships with over 2,000 employers, local schools, local government and community groups.
