Bournemouth and Poole College Commended by NCFE for ‘Exceptional Practice’ in Delivering Transformative Adult Courses
Bournemouth and Poole College has been recognised for demonstrating ‘exceptional practice’ in its delivery of adult education, following a recent External Quality Assurance review. The recognition highlight’s the College’s broader mission to provide inclusive education and meaningful career opportunities for learners at every stage of life.
The College delivers a comprehensive portfolio of NCFE-accredited qualifications, spanning subject areas such as mental health, dementia care, autism awareness, counselling skills, health and nutrition, alongside a range of business-focussed disciplines. These courses were designed and developed by NCFE to both support professional development as well as enhance personal development and wellbeing so that each individual can reach their potential in life.
In the 2025/26 academic year, approximately 2,000 adult learners are undertaking fully funded online courses at the College. This provision reflects a clear commitment to accessibility, removing barriers to education and ensuring that flexible learning opportunities are available to those balancing study with work, family, or other responsibilities.

The impact of this inclusive approach is evident in learner outcomes. Through our Adult Funded Online Course Destination Survey, we actively gather and respond to feedback to continuously enhance our provision. Over 98% of learners report increased confidence after completing their course, with many also noting improvements in wellbeing, self-awareness and sense of purpose.
Overall learner satisfaction remains exceptionally high, with 98% of respondents rating their courses positively and 97% stating they would recommend them to others. These outcomes reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering education that is impactful and accessible to all.
Through our expanding adult education provision, we reinforce our role not only as a leading further education institution, but as a cornerstone of lifelong learning, ensuring that education and career opportunities remain open, inclusive, and transformative for all members of the community.
