Information for applicants

A message from our Vice Principal for Curriculum,
Jacqueline Page

Dear applicant,

Following the Government’s announcement to close schools and Colleges from Monday 23rd March and the cancellation of GCSE examinations this summer, I wanted to reassure you that there will be a place for you at Bournemouth & Poole College for the next academic year. Our entry requirements for September will be as published on our website as normal, however, in making admission decisions, we will take individual circumstances into account where necessary, on a case by case basis.

We share students’ immense disappointment that the government has stated that this year’s summer examination series, including A levels, GCSEs and other qualifications, has been cancelled. The exam regulator Ofqual, and examination boards will now work with teachers to provide grades to students whose exams have been cancelled this summer. Bournemouth & Poole College’s priority is to ensure affected students can move on as planned to the next stage of their lives, which includes starting or returning to college or an apprenticeship, in the autumn. At this time we do not know exactly how the Government intends to award qualifications. However, please rest assured we will work with your school, teachers and examining boards to ensure you are not disadvantaged in your next steps.

We appreciate just how unsettling this situation is. Obviously, our hope is that every student will achieve positive results which are both individually representative and provide the perfect platform for the next stage of their academic careers.

Finally, we are still taking applications for 2020-21 and would normally hold face-to-face interviews. However, as a result of the Coronavirus measures, we are adopting different methods. We will conduct interviews by telephone once you have successfully submitted your application through the website and booked an interview slot.

If you have any questions or queries, please contact our Admissions team on:

Please do stay safe during this unusual time.
