Course Overview

The programme combines classroom-based learning, practical demonstrations, hands-on activities and assessment to ensure learners gain both the theoretical understanding and practical skills required to undertake electrical inspection and testing activities safely and competently to BS7671 and IET Guidance note 3.

  • Understand the requirements of BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations), including fundamental principles, definitions, protection for safety, equipment selection and special installations.
  • Conduct inspection and testing of electrical installations in accordance with BS 7671 and IET Guidance.
  • Safely isolate electrical circuits and apply safe systems of work.
  • Select and use appropriate electrical test instruments correctly and effectively.

Designed for qualified electricians looking to update their knowledge, enhance their inspection and testing skills, and achieve the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.

  • Hold an ECS Gold card, EAL Level 3 ElectroTechnical qualification 601/734 5/2,
  • City & Guilds level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems & Equipment (Building structures and the environment /2357)
  • Or equivalent qualification as specified by EAS qualification comparison document
  • You must also be over the age of 19 and live or work in the Dorset area.

Learners reviewed on 1:1 , and given Q&A, revision and exams at the end of each module, with additional support for those learners that have requested this.

Employers with less than 250 employees £320 per employee  (10% of full cost).

Employers with more than 250 employees £960 (70% of full cost).

Cost of parking once a week for eight (8) weeks.

Parking is not available on campus during term time, please make arrangements to park at other nearby parking in the Danecourt Road (rear of college) or North Road (front of college) vicinity. Please bring your own refreshments and lunch with you. Please plan for eight (8) consecutive Wednesdays from the course start date.
