Student Wellbeing Coach and Safeguarding Officer, Nicola Bradshaw, Recognised at National Awards

The NAMSS Awards celebrate excellence in UK Further Education support, with Nicola receiving the accolade in recognition of her outstanding contribution since joining the college earlier this academic year. 

Since joining the Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team, Nicola has made an immediate and meaningful impact during one of the busiest times of the year. The start of term brings increased demand, with new students settling in and rise in wellbeing and safeguarding needs. Despite this, Nicola has consistently demonstrated professionalism, compassion and resilience. 

Speaking after the ceremony, Nicola said: “I’m incredibly grateful to be runner up for best newcomer of the year and this recognition reflects the work our incredible team do to go above and beyond to support our students.”

Colleagues have praised Nicola for her calm and thoughtful approach, noting her ability to build trust quickly with students while maintaining clear professional boundaries. She is described as “a consistent voice of calm and reason,” supporting not only students through challenging situations but also her colleagues.

In addition to her frontline work, Nicola has played a key role in fostering a supportive and positive team environment. Her willingness to help others and her regular check-ins with colleagues have made her an integral part of the wellbeing team.

The recognition highlights the strength of student support services at Bournemouth and Poole College and reinforces the college’s commitment to helping students achieve their best academically, socially and emotionally.
