On Thursday, January 29th, Careers Leads came together for the college's second Careers Lead Event – Guiding Futures. The event reinforced the college’s commitment to building strong, meaningful relationships with local schools.

Attendees had the chance to hear from senior college figures, explore specialised facilities, and—new this year—discover the college’s Higher Education provision through talks, demonstrations, and guided tours of University Centre Poole. The expanded focus allowed school partners to better understand the full breadth of opportunities available to their students beyond Further Education.

Speakers included Phil Sayles (Principal and CEO), Lloyd Perry (Director of Student Experience & Designated Safeguarding Lead), and Stacey Howlett (Apprenticeship Manager – Construction). The afternoon HE session featured Vicky Trachy (Higher Education Manager) and Angelique Atack (Health & Functional Skills Delivery Manager), speaking about Higher Apprenticeships and progression routes.

Emily Bailey, School Liaison Manager at Bournemouth and Poole College said: “It was fantastic to see such a wide range of schools represented at the event. Maintaining strong relationships with our local schools is incredibly important to the college, and inviting staff to experience our facilities really brings our offer to life. Now in its second year, this is an event I look forward to each time—the energy and conversations on the day are always excellent. It was also wonderful to meet Career Leads in person and see such positive networking taking place.”

The college's partnerships with local schools are critical for young people starting their careers and help to create clear pathways for their future employment.
