Student Voice Celebrates Successful First Year with Workshop and Awards Ceremony
Bournemouth and Poole College marked a significant milestone on Wednesday 10 June, celebrating the first anniversary of the Student Voice with members of the 2025/26 Student Representative group. The Student Voice is a body of student representatives who speak for and with other students to improve college facilities, ways of working and any issues that might arise.
The event brought together Student Reps and staff to reflect on a highly successful year of student engagement, leadership and positive change across the college community.
A highlight of the day was an inspiring workshop delivered by Richard Allen-Campbell from Loudspeaker. Through a dynamic and interactive session, students explored key skills including self-confidence, public speaking, personal storytelling and future planning. The workshop encouraged participants to challenge themselves, develop their communication skills and consider how they can continue to make an impact both within and beyond the college.
Throughout the year, Student Reps have played a vital role in shaping the student experience. Staff praised the group for their commitment and enthusiasm, recognising the many ways they have contributed to college life. From volunteering their time and participating in feedback forums to supporting community projects, focus groups and civic engagement opportunities, Student Reps have consistently demonstrated leadership and dedication.
The afternoon concluded with a reflection from Phil on the impact Student Voice has had during its first year. He highlighted how student-led ideas and developments have helped shape college initiatives and improve the overall student experience.
The celebration also included the presentation of the Student Rep Awards, recognising individuals and groups who have made an outstanding contribution throughout the year, as well as those who have exemplified the college's BPC Character values.
