Two dedicated Art and Design students from Bournemouth and Poole College earned recognition at Solent University’s Art and Design College Competition 2026, showcasing their talents on a public stage.

Eve and Zaph, both studying Level 3, Year 2 Art and Design, independently entered the competition after being encouraged by their tutors and competed against other students from sixth forms and further education colleges across the region.

Eve’s submission was a graphical outreach design, whilst Zaph used more traditional paints and threads. Both had their work selected for exhibition in a unique public showcase within shipping containers at Guildhall Square in Southampton, from 28th to 30th April. Open to the general public, the exhibition provides an exciting opportunity for visitors to engage with contemporary student work in a groundbreaking, accessible setting.

The prestigious competition celebrates emerging talent across a wide range of disciplines, including Fine Art, Photography, Graphic Design and Illustration.

Students at Bournemouth and Poole College benefit from a broad curriculum and can study one of five pathways in Art and Design, including Visual Arts, Fashion and Textiles, Graphics, Photography, and 3D Design.

Gary Mant, Learning Manager for Art and Design, said: “Being shortlisted for the competition highlights Eve and Zaph’s amazing creativity and talent, along with their strong hands-on skills. They have really benefitted from the practical experience they have developed throughout their studies.”

Winners will receive a range of prizes, including up to £200 in cash and Art and Design materials of their choice, along with the opportunity for their college to visit the exhibition and university for a taster day.
