Introduction:
The CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development aims to provide a qualification for candidates who work with children aged 0-16 years in settings or services whose main purpose is children's care, learning and development.
Entry Requirements:
You should be able to demonstrate that you can work at an appropriate level. You should possess the equivalent of key skills at level 2. This means that prior education would be up to GCSE level.
It is expected that you will be already working in settings or services whose main purpose is children's care, learning and developmentwith children aged bewteen 0-16 and their families.
This Level 3 qualification requires the ability to gain and apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding. It is appropriate if you are working with children and wish to gain the knowledge and skills to enhance your practices or recognise the considerable experience of working with children that you may already have.
Please note - this course does not, however, assess your competency, because it is an online course. If you are planning to work with children in the uk either now or in the future, you may need to consider a course that does assess your competency in addition to this course or instead of this course, to ensure you have a full license to practice at level 3
Course Details:
The Level 3 Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development is made up of 5 units . In order to achieve this qualification, candidates must successfully complete the assessments for each unit.
Unit 1 - Principles and values underpinning work with children and the protection and promotion of children's rights
In this unit you will learn about the principles and values which are essential to your work with children and how to put these into practice. You will consider the rights of children and how to ensure these and promote children's welfare. You will also learn about children's rights to be protected and safeguarded from abuse and your duty and the duty of others to ensure that children remain safe.
Unit 2 - The Provision of healthy, safe and secure environments for children.
In this unit you will learn about the provision of an environment that supports the care, learning and development of children by promoting their health and safety whilst ensuring their security and protection.
The learning in this unit will provide knoledge of ways to provide and maintain health, safety and security in relation to the stages of children's development, in environments both in and out of the setting and recognising the importance of children taking risks for themselves. You will learn how to repsond to different emergency situations and the importance of the legal requirements and proceudres which relate to working in safe and correct ways with children.
Unit 3 - The provision of effective, high quality childcare environments
In this unit you will learn about plannning and providing physical environments for babies, children and young people. This will enable them to participate in play and learning which meets their individual developmental needs, supports their behaviour and keeps them safe, healthy and protected.
You will learn how to provide an environment where there are opportunities to care for and nurture children and work in partnership with their families. You will also learn to provide for the physical care needs of babies, children and young people in ways that reflect their individual needs. The main laws and regulations which relate to providing effective, high quality childcare environments are included in this unit.
Unit 4 - Promoting child and young person development
In this unit you will learn about the development of babies, children and young people, the reasons to promote all aspects of their development and how to work to promote development. You will learn why and how to observe, record and assess children and young people's development. It is important that you learn how to support children and young people in their development and through the transitions in their lives and to involve parents and families in your work.
Unit 5 - Promoting learning wihtin early education frameworks
In this unit you will learn how to plan the curriculum for early education following the curriculum frameworks in the UK and how to implement these curriculum plans yourself and by working with parents and other professionals. You will also learn about assessment and recording of the progress that children make and how to use the outcomes to enhance your work in developing and implementing curriculum frameworks and to develop your own practice.
Course Assessment:
Units 1, 3, 4 and 5 are assessed through unit assignment tasks, which demonstrate your understanding of the guided learning. Unit 2 is assessed by a 45 minute multiple choice test paper set and is externally marked by CACHE - this is arranged for you at a suitable venue in your country.
