Introduction:

The development of media production requires multi-skilled practitioners for the constantly and rapidly evolving media industries. The diversity of digital media is reflected in this innovative course. This Foundation degree combines vocational relevance with academic rigour, helping the student greatly develop their potential employability within this specialist field.

The Bournemouth and Poole College is building on its considerable expertise in both interactive media and audio/video production, ensuring graduates are equipped with the skills to not only author strong interactive projects, but also to film, edit and apply post-production techniques to video using traditional creative practices and cutting edge technology.

This is the ideal course for students with a preference for all screen based media, both interactive and visual. Students will receive thorough training in the use of software including Adobe Flash, Photoshop and AfterEffects, as well as video production and editing workshops. This course is an excellent preparatory step towards giving students the edge in a highly competetive and constantly evolving employment market.

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs at grade C minimum, to include Maths and English, or 'Application of Number' and 'Communication' Key Skills Level 2
  • 2 A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification e.g. BTEC National Diploma in Media or AVCE in Media
  • A level 3 Advanced Diploma in Creative and Media may be considered in combination with other qualifications
  • An Access to Higher Education Diploma

    (Indicative Tariff points 120 from two full A Levels or equivalent) Preferred Subjects: Film Studies, Media Studies, Computer Studies

    This foundation degree aims to provide the practical skills and theoretical overview necessary to design and produce multimedia.

    Course Progression:

    Students who complete this programme may apply to BA(Hons) Media Production.
