Introduction:

ITQ is a new flexible IT qualification designed to give individuals and businesses IT skills to succeed. It is aimed at anyone who uses IT in their job, or who wishes to get to grips with their computing skills.

Whether you use your computer for just a few minutes a day or all day everyday, ITQ can help you to do your job more efficiently, or maximise home computer use.

The ITQ qualification is taught to national standards and is sponsored by the government. This means you have the confidence of of knowing you will gain a nationally recognised qualification that will be useful on your personal CV and will be asked for by employers.

This qualification is available at The College's IT Learning Centre, located in the heart of Bournemouth on Richmond Hill and is open 6 days a week (see additional information). You can study independently at your own pace or as a taught programme.

Entry Requirements:

Basic computer skills or experience is required.

Course Details:

ITQ is taught on a flexible basis and is ideal for people who want the convenience of choosing sessions at times to suit their personal circumstances. The course duration is a maximum of 52 weeks with attendance of a minimum of 4 hours per week.

This course starts at introductory level leading top a level 2 qualification. It is useful if you already use a computer at work or at home and wish to gain a formal qualification to show their level of knowledge. It is made up of three to four modules designed to give you a range of computer skills and confidence on using Microsoft Office 2000 packages such as:

• Word Processing
• Spreadsheets (Excel)
• Databases (Access)
• Internet
• Email
• Presentation Graphics (Powerpoint)
• Artwork and imaging software (Publisher)

Course Assessment:

You will produce a portfolio of work as you learn. When you have completed the necessary modules you will obtain the ITQ qualification.
