"The Apprenticeship has really helped me a lot. I’ve gained a lot of confidence, but also team working skills and knowledge."

When I was thinking about my future I thought it would be good to get experience in the workplace. My parents had initially told me about Apprenticeships as my dad had been an apprentice many years before. They had mentioned that with an Apprenticeship you get to work and earn at the same time.

A family friend told me about an opportunity at the college that he thought would be a good route for me. It was for a Business Administration Apprentice in the Learning Resource Centres. I had an interest in Business so decided to apply and was successful.

I really enjoy the course. I’ve learnt so much about businesses and how they work. Plus I get on really well with my colleagues. I think they enjoy having me around.

My day-to-day tasks involve compiling the staff rotas, reconciling credit card statements, organising annual leave, issuing and returning books and tidying the bookshelves.
The Apprenticeship has really helped me a lot. I’ve gained a lot of confidence, but also team working skills and knowledge. I think you definitely need determination and good faith in your abilities to be a good apprentice.

Doing an Apprenticeship is not the easy route. It is hard work and have to be prepared for that, however I would 100% recommend it to anyone.
