COVID-19 Testing

In order to register for a test, students and staff will need to complete the College's online consent form. You can find the online consent form here  

 

The College will be using lateral flow tests. These tests are easy to use and give results in 30 minutes.

Students will receive two COVID-19 tests a week to take home and use. These tests will be provided by the College.

 

To take a test, you will need to swab the back of the throat, near the tonsils, and one nostril.

The swab is then dipped into an extraction solution, which is then dripped on to the device's paper pad, producing the reaction that gives the result. The test result will be visible 30 minutes later. Unlike other COVID-19 tests, there is no need to send the test to a lab.

 

Taking a COVID-19 test doesn’t hurt but you may find it slightly uncomfortable. The nostril swab might make you sneeze and swabbing the back of your throat might make you retch, but neither test should be painful. 

 

 

In the unfortunate event that you test positive for COVID-19, it is important that you let us know immediately. In the first instance you should contact our COVID-19 response line on 01202 205111. You can also use this form here (please note this will take you through to myBPC).

 

Students will be asked to confirm their course and last date of attendance, as well as their expected date of return as advised by the NHS testing app.

 

No, you do not have to pay for a COVID-19 test. The tests are completely free for all our students and staff. 
 

 

No, tests are not compulsary and you will still be able to return to College if you choose not to have a test.

 

We would strongly encourage all of our students to take this opportunity to have a COVID-19 test, but if you don't want to take a test then you don't have to.

 

 

Students will be directly notified by email concerning their test date which, where possible, will be in line with their normal days for College attendance.

Every time you have a test, you will be given a registration card and barcode at the testing centre. You will need to register the barcode on the NHS website immediately after you have your test using the following link: https://test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/register-kit 

When registering your barcode online, the site name you’ll need to enter is ‘The Bournemouth and Poole College’ or you can use the site code which is TBAP.

Please note that you will not receive your COVID-19 test results until you’ve registered your barcode. Once you have registered, most results will be texted to you within 30 minutes but this may sometimes take longer.
