Accommodation

A home away from home

The College offers accommodation to students through homestay accommodation

Homestay accommodation

Ideal for college students who are new to the UK

We highly recommend Homestay accommodation for students who are new to the UK or who will be studying away from their family home. It involves living with a local family and includes breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday and three meals at the weekend.

Our Homestay hosts can provide a very pleasant and safe environment for students and if English is not your first language they can help you to practice and improve your language skills. Hosts are asked to integrate students into their family life so you can have a home away from home during your time at The College.

More about homestay accommodation

Homestay accommodation is carefully selected by The College and is monitored on a regular basis to ensure that it meets our standards. All families and family homes are different but the Accommodation Team work hard to match students to host families who suit their needs and preferences.

The College is regulated by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills) so we ensure that the service and Homestay accommodation we provide meets their Homestay National Minimum Standards.

The minimum length of stay with a host family is 4 weeks (group bookings have their own agreement). Students can stay in a single room or a twin room shared with one other student (twin rooms are available for group bookings only).

Students who stay in their Homestay accommodation over the set college holidays (Christmas, Easter and half-terms) are required to pay an additional fee – this will cover the extra lunches that the host will provide. If, however, students choose to go away during the set college holidays, they will pay a retainer fee instead of the standard rate so that their room is held whilst they are away.

Self-catering accommodation
Bournemouth & Poole College do not own or allocate any self-catered student accommodation. There are, however, lots of self-catering accommodation options available for students aged over 18 who wish to live independently or with friends whilst they are studying at the college. Students are advised to make direct contact with letting agents and private student accommodation companies to pursue this option further.
