In brief...
To become a fully qualified Electrician, candidates are required to complete the full Electrical Diploma. For those who do not have access to an employer or wish to gain an initial grading in the Electrical trade at the Level 2. Full-time Diploma provides an excellent introduction to the work involved and enables the successful candidate to progress onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
What courses can I do after this?
Gaining this qualification will improve your prospects of finding employment or Apprenticeship training in the electrical installation industry. In order to become fully qualified, further part-time study will be necessary.
What jobs can I get?
You will need to continue your studies to become fully qualified.
To do this course you should have...
You will require a minimum of English and Maths at Grades 9-4 (formerly A* to C) and two additional GCSE's at Grades 9 - 3 (formerly A* to D)

Course Content
You will need to demonstrate and in some cases be observed:
Working on a range of electrical installations including Domestic, Commercial and Industrial.
Working with a range of cable management systems and cables including singles, twin and earth, SWA, MI, Tray, Conduit and Trunking.
Satisfy the following skill areas:
- Health & Safety on site
- Fault Diagnoses and Correction
- Managing Technical and Junctional Information
- Preparing for and Installing Wiring Systems, Enclosures and Equipment
- Connection of Wiring Systems and Equipment
- Inspection, Test and Commissioning of Electrical Installations
You will also study Functional Skills.
