This study programme offers a broad introduction to Tourism & Business at Foundation level and aims to provide you with an understanding for further study in these subject areas. The course has been developed in consultation with employers in the Tourism & Business industry, so you can be sure that you are developing relevant skills for your future career. The qualification is equivalent to NVQ Level 1 and is widely recognised by industry and taught within a grade 1 award winning department.

School Leaver age 16-18
What courses can I do after this?
Progression on to the City and Guilds Level 2 Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism or other related Level 2 course, or to employment or apprenticeship training.
What jobs can I get?
This course provides a number of opportunities to experience the world of business or tourism at first hand through educational visits, visiting speakers, and the practical experience of our team of lecturers, all of whom have had many years working in various aspects of the Tourism & Business industries. Job roles include travel agency apprentice, tourist information centre assistant and hotel reception - front of house,customer service,business adminstration apprentice and a variety of other related roles.
To do this course you should have...
You will need to achieve GCSE grade 1-4 including English and maths or have successfully completed a Foundation Entry level 3 qualifcation and have achieved Entry Level 3 Functional Skill in English and maths. An active interest in the business,travel and tourism industry would also be desirable.

This study programme will help you develop skills and knowledge to progress on your choosen career path,with units such as:
- Personal Budgeting and Money Management
- Planning a trip to a visitor attraction
- Team work Skills & take part in an activity
- Preparing for Interviews & Career Planning
- Locational Geography
- Research project in either Business or Tourism
You will also study GCSE English and maths or Functional skills at the appropriate level.
