In brief...
This is an ideal choice if you want to develop your understanding of the tourism industry, together with gaining the practical skills required to prepare you for a career in the tourism industry. This qualification is equivalent to an A Level and is widely recognised by industry and universities. It is taught within a grade 1, award winning department, and has been developed in consultation with employers in the travel and tourism industry so you can be sure of developing relevant skills and knowledge.
What courses can I do after this?
Progression at The College on to the Airport Check-in and Ground Crew (airport operations qualification), Cabin Crew programme or to employment within the travel and tourism industry working for a travel agency, tour operator, tourist information centre, airline, cruise line, visitor attraction, hotel or within business travel or tourist information services. In certain cases students may progress to higher education for a Foundation Degree in Business Studies offered by the College.
What jobs can I get?
Range of jobs include, Travel Agency,Overseas Representative, Tour Guide,Airline/Cruise Industry reservations agent, Hospitaity Industry to include receptionist, Visitor Attraction.
To do this course you should have...
You will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and/or maths grades 9-4 (formerly A*-C). Alternatively successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification and have achieved a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and maths.
What about work experience?
You will complete 2 weeks work experience whilst on this course.
