The Course

In brief...

For adult students who wish to go to university to get a professional degree, (e.g. nursing, business, computing) but are not yet ready for the Access course.  This may be because you have been out of education for a long time or because your recent training has been vocational rather than academic, or because you need to get your maths and English qualifications for Access.

Maths and English lessons are offered automatically when you enrol for Pre Access.  These will be on a separate day.

What the Course Leads to

What courses can I do after this?

Progression from this course is to an Access to Higher Education course, often Health Professions, Humanities or Computing. Future progression is often to university, usually a local university such as Bournemouth or Southampton.

What do I need to apply

To do this course you should have...

For those with English as a second or other language IELTS 5.5 is required.

We would strongly advise applicants who require IELTS to achieve level 7 (Academic) as required by universities at the time of applying.

We will support you in identifying how you can improve these skills, if necessary.
