In brief...
This advanced course is an excellent progression from a Level 2 or equivalent beauty therapy qualification. You will improve your beauty therapy skills on both a practical and academic level during this course, as well as expanding and developing your business awareness. This is a full time programme.
Who is it for?
Those with a passion for Beauty Therapy who want to pursue a career into the Beauty Therapy industry. You will have to have your L2 qualification in Beauty Therapy before you are able to study L3
What courses can I do after this?
Once qualified there are opportunities to continue to study for specialist qualifications in beauty and related therapies e.g. Swedish Massage; Aromotherapy and Epilation.
What jobs can I get?
Employment as a Beauty Therapist in a high street salon; Luxury Spa; Cruise liners or as a Mobile therapist, working for yourself. At the College we have a very reliable reputation for delivering excellent skills training. Our lecturers are professional and experts in their chosen fields with robust knowledge and relevant industrial experience.
Working in our commercial and training salons you will gain valuable experience in offering a professional salon service, whilst developing your customer care and consultation techniques.
You will have access to well equipped commercial Beauty salons situated at our Lansdowne campus in central Bournemouth.
To do this course you should have...
Sucessful completion of a relevant Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification and a minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths grades 9-4 (formerly A*-C) or a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and Maths.
What about work experience?
You will be expected to complete a minimum of 45-60 days of work experience in a local Beauty salon or spa, which is likely to be one day per week and upto a two week block placement. For 16-18yrs this is compulsory and MUST be industy specific. For 19+ learners, there maybe some flexibility with this, and maybe able to use your own business if working for yourself, as long as it auditable.

If you are not from an English Language speaking country, you will need to have UKVI IELTS 5.5. We accept a wide range of academic qualifications awarded overseas and use the UK NARIC (National Academic Recognition Information Centre) guidelines for international comparisons. - Health and Safety Practice in the salon
- Client Care and Communication
- Working with colleagues in the beauty therapy industry
- Provide microdermabrasion treatments
- Facial electrotherapy
- Body electrotherapy
- Body massage
- Provide Stone Therapy
- Indian Head Massage
Practical Skills & Treatments: please be aware that as part of your practical lessons students learn the treatments on each other. Further development is then performed on paying clients in one of our salons, which is a mandatory element of the formal assessment process.
