Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Level 2

In brief...
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner . Upon successful completion of this qualification learners can enter the workforce as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner, or if progression requirements are met continue to study for a Level 3 Diploma holding Early Years Educator status.
Apprentices are required to be employed in an appropriate early years setting for approximately 30 hours per week. Our dedicated BASE team can offer support to find an employer if required. As an apprentice you will have employed status and be paid at least the apprenticeship minimum wage .
This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years
Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce
Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as:
• Nursery Practitioner
• Classroom Assistant
• Pre-school Practitioner
What courses can I do after this?
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you could progress onto the Advanced Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (EYE) apprenticeship if you have obtained your GCSE English and Maths at a 4+. Progression will also depend on your tutor/assessor and employer agreeing that you have the potential to achieve at Level 3.

You will need to demonstrate an interest in this industry and have GCSEs in English and maths at a minimum of Grade 3/D or Level 1 Functional Skills. You will also be expected to complete a DBS check with your employer once a sucessful placement is sourced.

Course Content
Our level 2 apprentices attend college on a weekly basis and are taught the theory behind a range of topics, such as Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity etc .We use an eportfolio system called onefile, which can be accessed on any suitable electronic device using your personal secure login. Assignments are set to ensure you have the appropriate knowledge and understanding of the subject taught .You will also be assessed in the workplace and be required to submit a range of additional workplace evidence .
If you do not attain at least a grade 2 G.C.S.E or level 1 functional skills Maths and English qualification, this will need to be achieved before successful completion of your apprenticeship.
