Laura Amos graduated in 1990 with a Diploma in Hospitality and Catering - Level 3 from The School of Hospitality and Food at The Bournemouth and Poole College.  Laura was fondly remembered as a warm hearted but shy young lady in her first year of studies. 

Josephine Pearce, her personal tutor, placed Laura with Christophe Novelli in London for three months summer professional and technical employment in the kitchen, with a little help from college tutor David Boland’s industry contacts. Laura then came back to complete her Diploma.

Talented tourism students (pictured) at The Bournemouth & Poole College are pioneering a new scheme to test the quality of customer service received by visitors and holidaymakers in Bournemouth this summer.

BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel & Tourism and Air Cabin Crew students have been signed up as "scouts and tourism champions" by the National Coastal Tourism Academy. They will play a vital role in the next few months in testing the quality of customer service offered by venues such as shops, restaurants, hotels, clubs and pubs in the town.

Dannii, a student at the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at the Bournemouth & Poole College,  hopes to introduce an events company for Baby Showers  to the Bournemouth and Poole areas. Dannii has her business plan in place but first wants to get her message across. She’s organised a Charity event on behalf of Breast Cancer Care in her village, near Verwood on March 14.

What do businesses marketing iced-coffee, health and fitness, and high fashion all have in common? These were all companies who lead a series of talks which formed part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week event at The Bournemouth & Poole College.

Experts from a variety of business sectors gave inspirational talks on their own entrepreneurial stories, current business success, key factors that helped them to succeed, together with rewards, challenges and pitfalls of starting up a business.

Alfie Butler, 19, is spending February at Absolute Radio’s studios in London, while Pete Symmons is also in the capital for a coveted three month stint at BBC Radio 1.

Both students are taking the Foundation Degree in Radio Production at The Bournemouth & Poole College, Lower Constitution Hill Campus in Poole.
