Swissport, the leading support service company for the airline industry, has recruited the entire crop of 2015 graduates from the Bournemouth & Poole College's Aviation Operation (AO) course.

The company recently announced its plans to expand its ground operations at Bournemouth International Airport and drew on its strong links with the college to recruit new staff.

The seven female students will now join the company caring for passengers at the check-in stage.

More than thirty school pupils from the Bournemouth area had the chance to cook in the famous catering facilities at The Bournemouth & Poole College and test their culinary skills.

The College’s award winning Escoffier Restaurant, based at the Lansdowne site, was the venue for the annual Harvest Fine Foods “Yes Chef” competition.

At the event The College’s Careers Advice Team were on hand to offer valuable advice on courses and careers. Tracy Davis, The College’s Careers Guidance Manager said: "No matter what your qualifications or background, there is a place for you at The College. Our Progression courses are designed specifically to provide young people with the skills to launch them on Levels 2 and 3 Full-Time courses or Apprenticeships from September 2015. They run from January to June and include help to improve vital skills in English and Maths."

The Bournemouth & Poole College’s community spirit came to fore again recently when lecturer Steve Stafford upgraded the electricity auto-charging point at the huge Castlepoint shopping complex on the outskirts of Bournemouth – for free.

The centre already has a facility for charging electric cars set in a prime position outside Marks and Spencer but it lacked a special modern "J-plug" connection.

2,000 students at Bournemouth & Poole College have now landed a job thanks to an innovative partnership with specialist training and job search support provider REED NCFE.

Michael Dance, 18, from Wareham, was the 2,000th student to secure a job through the partnership, landing an engineering apprenticeship with Network Rail.

The partnership works by helping students to develop the vital mind-set and employability skills that 96 per cent of employers say they value over skill-set.*
