It’s one of the first of its kind offered by a UK FE College and there’s been a remarkably high level of applicants for the course.

Around 20 young people are studying at the Lansdowne campus in Bournemouth, and most have signed up for apprenticeships with local companies.

They will be learning about marketing using social media to promote their companies to an online audience.

The red carpet was laid out at the Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth, to welcome The Bournemouth & Poole College’s award winning students for 2014.

The plush De Vere Suite was the perfect setting, as more than 100 parents , staff and students, applauded the awarding of this year’s prizes for the college’s truly exceptional students.

The Bournemouth & Poole College is toasting its best ever return for A Level results with a 100% pass rate. It’s an improvement on last year’s numbers, and a breakdown of the figures shows that 66% achieved A to C grades and 37% were in the A* to B range.

A delighted Head of Sixth Form, Tracey Griffin, said: "This is a fantastic achievement and is a well-deserved result for all our hard working students. They have all stepped up to meet the challenge of the first stage of A Level reforms and met it head-on with outstanding success. It’s an excellent outcome for the college."

Parkstone mum Kate Wedge has completed a research project to help scientists understand why the lake in her local park becomes clogged with algae in the summer.  The algae can be toxic to animals and a nuisance to people using the lake for water sports.
