Former student Wing showed the current students at Bournemouth & Poole College how successful you can be if you follow your dreams when he came into the college to deliver a training session.

He showed the students various cutting and styling techniques, and described how a lot of his inspiration comes from London. He explained that he walks around the city so he can see what the latest street style is like. He looks at the clothes people wear, their look and the colours, he then incorporates what he sees into his own style of hairdressing.

Bournemouth & Poole College student Alice Kingham, 21, has won the coveted Southern Institute of Hospitality Front of House Student of the Year Award (sponsored by the AA). She is currently studying a BTEC National Diploma in Hospitality Supervision & Events.

The Institute of Hospitality sent their media to film Alice demonstrating her skills of cocktail shaking and flambé work, followed by an interview.  A short list of 80 competitors were narrowed down to just 4 finalists.

The Bournemouth & Poole College’s latest campaign to promote Apprenticeships attracted almost 700 people to its spring open event. That’s a record for such an open event at The College.

It coincided with National Apprenticeship Week and the launch of over 100 new Apprenticeship opportunities.

Air cabin crew students from The Bournemouth & Poole College have experienced a behind the scenes tour of Thomson Airlines operations at Bournemouth Airport.

It was all part of their training programme as they prepare for careers that could see them all jetting round the globe.

The students were part of genuine flight briefings and visited an aircraft on the apron. They were also tested in their delivery of the traditional pre-flight safety briefing, but the highlight was taking part in a simulated emergency landing.

The Bournemouth & Poole College is at the forefront for training the region’s future talent in the booming digital technology sector and is set to launch its latest digital course on cyber security at its Open Event on 15th March.

A national report, Tech Nation (TN), highlights the Bournemouth and Poole area as having the third highest density of digital technology companies in the UK.
