A balmy strawberry poly tunnel at The New Forest Fruit Co fruit farm lent its self as the perfect set up for ‘The Chefs’ Forum Field Kitchen. Fruity cookery demonstrations and a tour of the fruit farm and its produce offered a real field to fork experience to top chefs and hospitality students alike.

Students from both Highbury College and Bournemouth & Poole College worked with high-end private caterer Stephane Jouan (Cuisine Saveurs) to produce some excellent canapés showcasing beautiful strawberries and Haskap berries grown on the fruit farm.

Former college Engineering Apprentice Victor Cornhill has his career plans nicely wrapped-up. He is carving out a fine career with Marden Edwards, the Ferndown-based family company with a world-wide reputation for the manufacture of complex and sophisticated shrink-wrap machines.

It’s one of the first of its kind offered by a UK FE College and there’s been a remarkably high level of applicants for the course.

Around 20 young people are studying at the Lansdowne campus in Bournemouth, and most have signed up for apprenticeships with local companies.

They will be learning about marketing using social media to promote their companies to an online audience.

The red carpet was laid out at the Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth, to welcome The Bournemouth & Poole College’s award winning students for 2014.

The plush De Vere Suite was the perfect setting, as more than 100 parents , staff and students, applauded the awarding of this year’s prizes for the college’s truly exceptional students.
