Leading construction firm in the South West, Willmott Dixon, has started work on a multi-million pound new build at The Bournemouth & Poole College.

The £8.8 million pound project, part of the £11.7m development at the College’s North Road site, includes a brand new building that will be home to a contemporary 136-seat Performing Arts Theatre, a Digital Media Centre and new laboratories for Health and Medical Sciences.

A multitude of visitors, of all ages, attended the recent March Open Event at The Bournemouth & Poole College.

One of the key selling points for attendees was the number of employers exhibiting. Over 30 of the South’s leading businesses attended the event to speak to potential students/apprentices and give an insight into career opportunities within their organisations.

Bournemouth and Poole College students celebrate another trophy for their cabinet as Matt Light and Ben Hawes win the Poole District Rotary Technology Tournament 2014. The competition took place at Corfe Hills School in March and saw approximately 20 teams compete in 3 categories; Basic, Intermediate and Advanced.

Laura Amos graduated in 1990 with a Diploma in Hospitality and Catering - Level 3 from The School of Hospitality and Food at The Bournemouth and Poole College.  Laura was fondly remembered as a warm hearted but shy young lady in her first year of studies. 

Josephine Pearce, her personal tutor, placed Laura with Christophe Novelli in London for three months summer professional and technical employment in the kitchen, with a little help from college tutor David Boland’s industry contacts. Laura then came back to complete her Diploma.

Dannii, a student at the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at the Bournemouth & Poole College,  hopes to introduce an events company for Baby Showers  to the Bournemouth and Poole areas. Dannii has her business plan in place but first wants to get her message across. She’s organised a Charity event on behalf of Breast Cancer Care in her village, near Verwood on March 14.
