Judges of a national competition identified leadership qualities of top Bournemouth & Poole College apprentice

Bournemouth & Poole College apprentice Ashley Craig has been crowned Apprentice of the Year in the prestigious annual Construction News magazine awards ceremony. The judges were lavish in their praise for Ashley’s dynamism and positive attitude.

One of The Bournemouth & Poole College’s most successful Performing Arts graduates returned to his roots at The College’s Jellicoe Theatre. 

Earl Carpenter, best known for his West End stage performances in Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera, was happy to talk to the current Performing Arts students and offer expert advice on what it takes to get to the top in the entertainment industry.

Alex Bryant, Bournemouth and John Cahill, Broadstone, have helped launch the South West Shared Apprenticeship (SWSA) scheme designed to employ young people for the entire period of their training.

The construction sector has an intrinsic skills training problem. Firms often can’t commit to taking on apprenticeships as building contracts rarely last for the full duration of a recognised apprenticeship course.

To mark National Apprenticeship Week 2015, Sunseeker International is pleased to announce that it will create 28 new apprenticeship vacancies during the coming year, its largest intake in four years. These will cover a broad range of specialist skills including marine engineers, electricians and carpenters, all based at its manufacturing centre in Poole, Dorset.
