Sport Students test their skills at a 3 day surfing instruction course in sunny Perranporth, Cornwall.

16 excited  Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport students were lucky enough to complete a 3 day surfing instruction course in the beautiful seaside town of Perranporth. Their experience was made even better by the amazing conditions that proved to be perfect for surfing!

Each year as part of the Level 3 course, students are given the chance to take part in a trip to complete their outdoors activities unit and show off the valuable skills they’ve learnt. Organised by the Sport Department, the trip is designed to ensure students gain a diverse range of experiences and get the most out of their course.

Bournemouth & Poole College is unique as it has its own staff who are qualified surf instructors. With a growing surfing industry, this course ensures our students stand out from the crowd.

Gary Hart, Learning Manager for Sport said “We had great conditions for the trip with a good groundswell and off shore winds. The students worked very hard over the three days with many showing a natural aptitude for surfing.  The trip provides a fantastic enrichment experience for our BTEC Students and contributes towards their assessed coursework.”
