Local food teachers gather at Bournemouth & Poole College networking event

Food teachers from local schools attended a special networking event at the college’s fine dining restaurant; The Escoffier. The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event, is designed to enable teachers to take part in up-skilling activities and this specific one was to sample food creations produced by college students.

In total, 13 teachers attended from schools including Ringwood, Corfe Hills, Verwood Emmanuel Middle School, Bishop of Winchester, Glenmoor and Winton Academies and Talbot Heath.

They were shown what our catering students have been taught since the start of term in September as they experienced the seven course tasting menu and several teachers were delighted to see their former students at work in the kitchens & restaurant.

After some extremely positive feedback on the event, attention has now turned to the next workshop in the spring term, with several ideas already circulated. Teachers have been asked which areas they would like to focus on, with options ranging from meat and fish preparation to International Cuisine, Hospitality Skills, garnishing skills and many others.

For students and parents interested in experiencing what The Escoffier has to offer, the college is holding an Open Event on Tuesday 13th November, 4-8pm. As well as the opportunity to sample mocktails created as part of a Hospitality and Catering demonstration, the event provides an excellent opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in catering. Our Chefs, Front of House specialists and current students will be on hand to answer any questions and offer advice about potential career pathways.
