A Level success leads to a career in medicine

Brenda Vescance Caroprese receiving her A Level results

A Level Results Day at The Bournemouth & Poole College was extra special for 20-year-old student Brenda Vescance Caroprese.

Brenda, who was born in Colombia and has been studying at the college for more than three years, opened her brown envelope to find she had secured herself an A in Biology, B in Chemistry and a B in Psychology. This meant she had a passport to a Medical Sciences degree course at Exeter University.

For her boyfriend, Mo Khalifa, it was almost a case of déjà vu. He returned to the college to support Brenda a year after he had collected his own results. In 2014 he too qualified to do a Medical Sciences degree. The only difference is Mo is studying for his degree at Brunel University, London.

He said: “The journey to see each other has just doubled from 100 miles to 200 miles. It’s something we’ll have to live with but I am so happy Brenda has got the course she wanted. We both hope to be doctors one day.”

Brenda was full of praise for the A Level tutors at the college. “It’s been hard work for me but they have always been there to help when I needed them.”

The Bournemouth & Poole College celebrated amazing success this year in their Sixth Form with a 99% pass rate. A Level Results Day was buzzing with the added excitement of a Meridian TV crew who interviewed some of the students.
